Dental Implant Treatments
What are Dental Implants?
Implants are a safe and well-established treatment. They are considered to be longer-lasting and more discreet as compared other options such as a denture or bridge. Of all the different ways to replace missing teeth, a dental implant acts and looks most like your natural teeth. A dental implant can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Even patients who are missing most or all of their teeth can benefit from dental implants.
A titanium screw is placed into the jaw bone, just like the root of a tooth, once the implant is placed the surrounding bone will gradually and naturally fuse to it holding it firmly in place. Once healed, the implant will be able to support a crown, bridge or denture to replace missing teeth. Careful planning with yourself and your dentist will be undertaken to ensure replacement teeth match the appearance of your existing smile and restore chewing function.
Types of Dental Implants
There are three different dental implant solutions. Take a look to see which one suits you.

How it Works
Our process makes achieving your beautiful smile simple.
01
Inital Consultation
Book an appointment with our experienced implantologist. During this appointment you will be able to express your treatment goals and ask as many questions as you need. You will be fully assessed to see if you are suitable for an implant placement. X-rays/scans may be needed to assess the health and amount of jaw bone you have. Our dentist will discuss with you in detail the process and all associated risks, benefits and costs.
02
Implant Placement
The first stage of treatment is to place the titanium implant into the jaw bone. This is done under a simple local anaesthetic. The treatment usually takes 1-2 hours depending on how many implants are placed. During the procedure you should not feel any pain, however, like having an extraction or any other minor surgery, you can expect some discomfort during the week following surgery. This can be managed with painkillers and should not take long to subside.
03
Healing / Implant Integration
After placement of the implant, we will need to allow time for the jaw bone to integrate with the titanium screw. This is so we have a strong and stable base on which to place a crown, bridge or denture. We expect this to take around 3-6 months. In some cases, this may be longer but this a rarity.
04
Restoration
Once the implant and bone have successfully integrated, we are then able to place a restoration to replace your missing tooth/teeth. Impressions will be taken on your jaw so that a dental technician can custom design your replacement tooth/teeth. Once ready – these will then be screwed or cemented onto the implant. This is the final result! Once finished the teeth will look, feel and function as natural.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have listed some of the most frequently asked questions surrounding Dental Implants.
Much like natural teeth, implants will last as long as you care for them. This can be for many decades. We recommend regular maintenance visits as advised by your dentist along with a good oral hygiene routine.
As long as you are in good general health and your mouth is in a stable condition, dental implants should be a good option for you! This will all be determined on consultation – the dentist will ask questions regarding your dental and medical history. We also need to check your lifestyle habits too; heavy drinking and smoking can affect the healing time initially after the implant is placed and long term can have a detrimental impact on the health of your gum and bone.
Each treatment plan is tailored to each individual need – meaning there is not a standard answer to this. Prices can vary depending on how many implants are needed, the complexity of individual case and the type of restorative work used after implant placement (crowns/dentures etc).
We don’t want cost to be an obstacle to our patients looking to achieve their smile goals. We are happy to offer a 0% payment plan over 12 months though our trusted finance partner. Many patients feel that the benefits of dental implants far outweigh the costs – not to mention with proper care dental implants can last up to a lifetime!
